Help for Schools

If you would like staff training either for twilight sessions or INSET days please contact me. Each session is 45 minutes online or 1.5 hours for a face to face session.

Training is informative and interactive providing staff with the skills and knowledge to improve inclusive practice. This training is for anyone working in education including senior leaders, teachers, NQTs, teaching assistants and key workers.

Learning Support Plans and Adaptive Teaching? – This session looks at key aspects of inclusive teaching including differentiation, simplifying language, breaking up learning tasks, use of assistive aids, links to prior learning, encouraging active learning and the use of visual resources.

The Graduated Response to SEND – Pupils who face greater difficulty than most of their peers will require SEND support which takes the form of a graduated approach. This training looks at the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle in more detail and how this can be implemented.

Improving Learner Outcomes Through Target-Setting – Outcomes for learners with SEND can be improved significantly with high-quality target-setting. This training focuses on why target-setting is vital for progress and attainment, the benefits of target-setting for individual learners, and how setting SMART targets lead to a growth mindset

Equality Act 2010 – The Equality Act protects people including children from discrimination and helps prevent unlawful treatment. This training session covers everything you need to know to ensure your school complies with its duty.

EHCPs – the Process and the Plan – For many teachers and SENCOs, navigating the length and breadth of an EHCP plan can be difficult. This training explains the EHC application, EHC content and how to use the plan practically to ensure the best pupil outcomes.

Balance v Burnout – the quest for a healthy work-life balance can seem never-ending. This session looks at the effects of stress on the body, relaxation techniques and other practical ways to manage mental and physical health.

Additional Training
I also offer specific training on Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Dyslexia, Speech and Language Difficulties, Supporting Challenging Behaviour, and Occupational Therapy in the Classroom.
